The sky, like black velvet studded with rhinestones, seem to reach down and envelope her in its softness as she strolled through the park. Ahead she could hear the joyous sounds of the revelers. What a marvelous idea, she thought, to have a wedding at midnight in the middle of central park.

Shyly, she slipped in between groups of celebrators, watching silently as the bride and groom began the traditional switching of partners, intending to give each of their guests a dance.

She waited close to the tree line as other girls pressed forward to claim their dance with the handsome groom, knowing eventually he’d make his way to her.

“I don’t know you, do I? You must be one of Jill’s friends from school,” he said as he slipped an arm around her.

“I don’t know her at all. The music attracted me,” she said, resisting his attempts to draw her back into the light. Instead she danced him farther into the trees, her strong arms encircling him tightly. Despite his struggles, she found it easy to sink her teeth deep into his neck, drinking hungrily of his heated blood.
